Clinical Report: Correction to the STOP-HS1 and STOP-HS2 Povorcitinib Trials

Overview

A Nature Medicine correction published online on 23 July 2026 amends baseline disease-duration data, patient disposition details, table footnote markers, figure annotations, and a Supplementary Table 6A value sequence in the STOP-HS1 and STOP-HS2 article. The HTML and PDF versions have been corrected.

Background

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is the condition addressed in the corrected phase 3 trial report. STOP-HS1 and STOP-HS2 were randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled studies of povorcitinib in adults with moderate-to-severe HS. The correction concerns reporting and presentation in the published article and its supplementary material. It does not provide new trial efficacy or safety results.

Data Highlights

LocationCorrection
Results, “Patients” subsectionMean (range) disease duration corrected to 9.7 (0.4−49.1)−10.8 (0.4−57.7) years; the prior upper range was 48.7 years.
Fig. 1, footnote bIn STOP-HS2, three patients stopped treatment after week 12: two by physician decision and one by withdrawal.
Fig. 1, footnote dOne patient withdrew after completing treatment through week 12; the prior text stated that two patients discontinued and both withdrew.
Table 2For STOP-HS1 75 mg, the P values for ≥3-point decrease in Skin Pain NRS and Skin Pain NRS30 should carry superscript “f,” not “e.”
Extended Data Fig. 5e, fThe dotted line between weeks 18 and 24 should be blue rather than grey; numerical values adjacent to week 6 dots should appear beside week 12 dots.
Supplementary Table 6AFor “Week 12” in “A75, Baseline A count, 3−5,” the correct sequence is 36.8 (25/68), 35.3 (18/51), 37.2 (16/43).

Key Findings

  • The correction notice was published online on 23 July 2026.
  • Baseline mean disease duration is reported as 9.7 (0.4−49.1)−10.8 (0.4−57.7) years.
  • In STOP-HS2, three patients stopped treatment after week 12: two following physician decision and one by withdrawal.
  • One patient withdrew after completing treatment through week 12, correcting the Fig. 1 footnote d description.
  • Table 2’s STOP-HS1 75 mg P values for the specified Skin Pain NRS outcomes require superscript “f.”
  • The correction also revises Extended Data Fig. 5e, f annotations and the ordering of values in Supplementary Table 6A.

Clinical Implications

The notice identifies corrections to trial reporting and figure and table presentation; it does not report new clinical outcomes. Readers consulting the trial should use the corrected HTML or PDF article versions and the corrected supplementary table.

Conclusion

The correction updates several details in the published STOP-HS1 and STOP-HS2 report, including patient disposition and data presentation. The article’s HTML and PDF versions have been amended.
