Background

The management of LDL-C levels is crucial for reducing cardiovascular risk, with PCSK9 inhibition emerging as a key therapeutic strategy. Understanding the hepatic effects of low cholesterol levels is essential.

In a study involving carriers of rare PCSK9 loss-of-function variants, it was found that these individuals had significantly lower LDL-C concentrations without an increased risk of liver disease (hazard ratio, 1.08; P = .80).
