Background

The identification of genetic risk factors for severe cutaneous adverse reactions (SCARs) has advanced pharmacogenomics significantly. Lamotrigine, a common treatment for bipolar disorder and epilepsy, is associated with DRESS, a severe hypersensitivity reaction that can lead to high morbidity and mortality.
