Clinical Report: Optimization of Nomograms Using VISULYZE Improves Accuracy

Overview

This study demonstrates that VISULYZE-assisted nomogram optimization enhances the accuracy of astigmatism correction in keratorefractive lenticule extraction (KLEx).

Background

Astigmatism correction in keratorefractive procedures like KLEx is often suboptimal, leading to patient dissatisfaction and enhancement surgeries. Traditional empirical nomograms are limited by inter-surgeon variability and lack standardized adjustments. The introduction of VISULYZE offers a data-driven approach to optimize nomograms.

Data Highlights

OutcomeVISULYZE GroupControl GroupP-value
UDVA 20/20 or better100%98%-
UDVA 20/16 or better87%73%0.045
SE within ±0.50 D100%94.4%0.017
Residual astigmatism ≤0.50 D99%93.5%0.042

Key Findings

  • 100% of eyes in the VISULYZE group achieved UDVA of 20/20 or better.
  • 87% of the VISULYZE group achieved UDVA of 20/16 or better compared to 73% in the control group (P = 0.045).
  • SE within ±0.50 D was achieved in 100% of VISULYZE eyes versus 94.4% of control eyes (P = 0.017).
  • Residual astigmatism of 0.50 D or less was observed in 99% of VISULYZE eyes compared to 93.5% in control eyes (P = 0.042).
  • Both low-to-moderate and high astigmatism subgroups showed significantly better SE accuracy with VISULYZE (P < 0.05).
  • Vector analysis indicated significantly smaller difference vector values in VISULYZE eyes (0.00 vs. 0.25 D, P < 0.001).

Clinical Implications

The use of VISULYZE for nomogram optimization may improve outcomes in astigmatism correction for KLEx.

Conclusion

VISULYZE-assisted nomogram optimization improves the accuracy of astigmatism correction in KLEx.
