To explore the clinical efficacy, safety and application value of umbilical S-shaped incision in pediatric laparoscopic surgery.
Approach:
Study Design: A retrospective analysis of clinical data from children who underwent surgery via umbilical S-shaped incision at Shengli Oilfield Central Hospital from January 2019 to April 2023.
Key Findings:
36 children underwent surgery with umbilical S-shaped incision, mean age 6.5 ± 4.4 years. Surgical procedures included laparoscopic choledochal cyst resection, single-port transumbilical appendectomy, and others, with all operations completed successfully. No incision-related complications occurred, and transumbilical incisions achieved nearly scarless outcomes.
Interpretation:
The umbilical S-shaped incision allows for effective extracorporeal resection and anastomosis while maintaining cosmetic results.
Limitations:
The study is limited to a single institution and may not be generalizable.
Retrospective design may introduce bias in data collection and analysis.
Conclusion:
The umbilical S-shaped incision technique is effective for pediatric laparoscopic surgeries, ensuring concealed incisions.
