To assess orthopaedic oncologists' usage of and perspectives towards the incorporation of AI dictation into clinic visits.
Approach:
Survey Distribution: An anonymous, voluntary, IRB-exempt survey was distributed to MSTS members and AAOS Oncology Subspecialty Day attendees from March 14 to May 22, 2025.
Key Findings:
63 orthopaedic oncologists responded to the survey, representing a 16% response rate.
27% reported using AI ambient listening software, primarily Dax Copilot and Abridge.
38% of AI users utilized the software for every visit, with 50% noting a positive impact on clinical encounters.
86% of AI users reported improved efficiency and accuracy in documentation, saving 1-2 hours of documentation time per clinic day.
71% of non-users were considering implementation, with key barriers including hospital availability (60%) and cost (30%).
