Objective:

To highlight the achievements and contributions of AARC members in various respiratory care initiatives and competitions.

Approach:
  • Sputum Bowl Championship: Elias Marrero, RRT, and his team, The Phlegm Fellas, won the Arizona Sputum Bowl championship and will compete in the National Sputum Bowl in New Orleans.
  • CPAP Clinic Development: Audrey Chikalla, RRT, RRT-NPS, CPFT, AE-C, contributed to the establishment of a CPAP clinic at UC Davis Health to assist pediatric patients with sleep apnea.
  • Distinguished RRT Credentialing Success Award: Grant Hosking, MS, RRT, RRT-ACCS, and Tiffany Scott, MSc, BSRT, RRT, RRT-ACCS, were recognized for their respiratory care program at Casper College receiving the award for the third consecutive year.
  • Wildfire Smoke Health Effects: Mika Nonoyama, FHSc, RRT, discussed the long-term health impacts of wildfire smoke.
  • TUPIL Award Initiative: Jodylynn Rolla, MSRC, RRT, initiated the TUPIL Award to honor colleagues making significant contributions, with a second recipient recognized at her hospital.
  • Professional Work in Respiratory Care: Crystal A. Miller, PhD, DHA, MBA, RRT, was featured for her dual role as a respiratory therapist and educator.
