Objective:

To evaluate the changes in facial skin texture and fine wrinkles following delivery of self-crosslinking hyaluronic acid formulation through needle-free jet injection.

Approach:
  • Study Design: A single-arm, non-randomized interventional study involving 30 women aged 40–55 years with Fitzpatrick skin types III–IV.
  • Treatment Protocol: Participants underwent three treatment sessions at 4-week intervals using a self-crosslinking hyaluronic acid formulation delivered via needle-free jet injection.
  • Outcome Measures: Outcomes included wrinkle and texture scores from 3D imaging, investigator-rated fine wrinkle severity, patient-reported improvement, and safety assessment.
Key Findings:
  • At week 12, malar wrinkle and texture scores decreased by 8.7 and 7.2 points, respectively (p < 0.01).
  • Pericommissural wrinkle and texture scores decreased by 7.5 and 4.9 points, respectively (p < 0.01).
  • Investigator-rated fine wrinkle severity improved significantly from 7.28 ± 1.18 to 4.32 ± 1.36 (p < 0.01).
  • 60% of participants reported moderate to marked improvement.
  • Treatment-related reactions were mild and transient.
Interpretation:

The study reports improvements in imaging and investigator-rated outcomes following needle-free jet delivery of self-crosslinking HA for fine wrinkles and skin texture.

Limitations:
  • The study was non-randomized and lacked a control group, which may affect the generalizability of the results.
  • Long-term durability and comparative efficacy need further investigation.
Conclusion:

Further controlled studies with longer follow-up are needed to confirm the durability and comparative efficacy of this treatment.
