UCI Health lupus clinical trial offers hope to patients with the disease

A patient from UCI Health, diagnosed with lupus over 20 years ago, has shown remarkable recovery after receiving a one-time infusion of investigational CAR T-cell therapy in a Phase 1 clinical trial. This therapy, which significantly improved her kidney function and allowed her to resume daily activities, was introduced at UCI Health by Dr. Sheetal Desai, a board-certified rheumatologist. She is currently recruiting more participants to investigate the therapy's potential for achieving long-term remission in lupus patients.
