Objective:

To evaluate the efficacy of Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) in 28 patients with high-grade gliomas in a real-world setting.

Approach:
  • Study Design: Retrospective analysis of 28 patients treated with TTFields at Shenzhen People’s Hospital from March 2019 to February 2022.
  • Assessment Methods: Tumor stability or progression assessed using RANO criteria; PFS and OS calculated with Kaplan–Meier method; adverse events recorded using CTCAE version 5.0.
Key Findings:
  • Median duration of TTFields use was 9.4 months with an adherence rate of 88.05%.
  • In newly diagnosed patients (n=19), median PFS was 18.1 months and OS was 22.0 months.
  • In recurrent patients (n=9), median PFS was 9.1 months and OS was 18.2 months.
  • Common adverse events included grade 1–2 dermatologic reactions, with no grade 3–4 toxicities.
Interpretation:

Findings indicate that TTFields therapy is associated with survival outcomes consistent with previous reports.

Limitations:
  • Small sample size limits generalizability.
  • Observational design may introduce bias.
Conclusion:

Further prospective studies with larger cohorts are warranted to evaluate the role of TTFields in glioma management.
