Objective:

To investigate the prevalence and determinants of preoperative anxiety (PA) among patients undergoing penile prosthesis implantation (PPI).

Approach:
    Key Findings:
    • The prevalence of clinically significant preoperative anxiety was 52.8% among patients undergoing PPI.
    • Level of education significantly affected anxiety levels; illiterate and university degree holders had higher anxiety compared to those with only a school degree (p < 0.05).
    Interpretation:

Age, residence, and employment status did not significantly affect preoperative anxiety levels.

    Limitations:
    • The study was limited to a single institution, which may affect the generalizability of the findings.
    • The sample size, while adequate for the study, may not capture all variables influencing preoperative anxiety.
    Conclusion:

The study reports a significant prevalence of preoperative anxiety in patients undergoing penile prosthesis surgery, with educational background identified as a notable determinant.
