Discordance Between Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Disease Activity Index Domain Weights and Their Association With Organ Damage Accrual - Summary - MDSpire
To evaluate the associations between SLEDAI-2K domain weightings and organ damage accrual in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
Approach:
Participants and Data Collection: Longitudinal clinical data were collected from patients with SLE attending Monash Lupus Clinic between May 2007 and December 2016. Patients aged ≥18 years fulfilling the 1982 ACR revised criteria were included.
Statistical Analysis: Univariable and multivariable analyses were conducted to evaluate associations between individual SLEDAI-2K domain scores and organ damage accrual over time.
Key Findings:
41.7% of patients had organ damage accrual during follow-up.
Several SLEDAI-2K domains (e.g., pericarditis, pleurisy, leukopenia) were significantly associated with damage transition.
Higher-weighted SLEDAI domains showed no positive association with damage transition.
Interpretation:
The weightings of SLEDAI-2K domains do not align with their association to organ damage accrual.
