Promising effects of high-intensity focused ultrasound combined with eribulin and sintilimab in a patient with advanced leiomyosarcoma: a case report and literature review
To report a case of advanced bladder leiomyosarcoma (LMS) and evaluate the efficacy of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) in combination with eribulin and sintilimab.
Approach:
Case Presentation: A 49-year-old male with advanced bladder LMS underwent various treatments including surgery, chemotherapy, and anlotinib, before achieving disease stabilization with eribulin and sintilimab. The addition of HIFU led to a partial response, with sustained disease control for 7.2 months.
Key Findings:
The patient achieved disease stabilization after two cycles of eribulin combined with sintilimab.
A partial response was observed after adding HIFU, with sustained disease control for 7.2 months.
The patient remained alive with an overall survival of 57 months since diagnosis.
Interpretation:
Limitations:
This is a single case study, limiting generalizability.
Further research is needed to validate the findings and assess the efficacy of this combination therapy in larger populations.
Conclusion:
The case suggests that HIFU combined with eribulin and sintilimab may provide a therapeutic strategy for advanced LMS.
