To examine the effects of a brief VR relaxation intervention on perceived stress and test anxiety among nursing students, and to evaluate the intervention’s acceptability and feasibility.
Approach:
Study Design: Randomized controlled trial (RCT) with participants assigned to either a VR intervention group or a control group.
Participants: 52 nursing students, randomized into VR intervention or control group, with a mean age of 20-21 years.
Intervention: 10-minute self-selected immersive VR relaxation session with various naturalistic environments.
Measurements: Perceived stress and test anxiety were assessed before and after the intervention.
Key Findings:
The intervention group showed a significant reduction in perceived stress (p = .014) and test anxiety (p = .002).
The control group had no significant change in stress and anxiety.
Participants reported high acceptability and ease of using VR.
Interpretation:
Limitations:
Small sample size (N = 52).
Study conducted in a single institution, limiting generalizability.
