Objective:

To examine hyperkalemia recurrence and identify independent baseline risk factors for hyperkalemia recurrence in patients with heart failure (HF).

Approach:
    Key Findings:
    • 49.5% of the full cohort experienced recurrent hyperkalemia within 12 months.
    • 37.3% recurrence rate in the No-CKD subgroup.
    • Mean number of recurrences was 2.5 for the full cohort and 2.0 for the No-CKD subgroup.
    • Mean potassium level at each recurrence was approximately 5.5 mmol/L.
    • Significant risk factors for recurrence included history of hyperkalemia (OR 2.3), hypertension, advanced CKD, immunosuppressant therapy, and malignancy.
