To assess the occurrence of radiolucent lines, aseptic loosening, and survivorship of the Attune® and Triathlon® systems, and to compare patient-reported outcomes at mid-term follow-up.
Key Findings:
The Attune® system showed a higher occurrence of radiolucent lines compared to the Triathlon® system.
No significant difference in patient-reported outcomes (OKS and EQ-5D-5L) between the two implant systems at 5 years.
Survivorship rates were comparable for both Attune® and Triathlon® systems, indicating similar long-term performance.
Interpretation:
The presence of radiolucent lines in the Attune® system does not necessarily correlate with increased revision rates, as patient-reported outcomes were similar to those of the Triathlon® system at mid-term follow-up.
Limitations:
Single-center study may limit generalizability.
Potential bias in radiographic assessments despite blinding.
Limited sample size may affect the robustness of findings.
Conclusion:
The study suggests that while radiolucent lines are more common in the Attune® system, they do not predict worse clinical outcomes compared to the Triathlon® system at mid-term follow-up.
