Objective:

To investigate the association of receipt of advanced therapies with echocardiographic parameters of RV function at outpatient follow-up among survivors of acute PE.

Approach:
    Key Findings:
    • 122 patients included with median age 64.4 years and median PESI score 86.
    • Advanced therapies (CDE, CDT, SPE) were performed in 17.2%, 9.0%, and 9.0% of cases respectively, with a total of 21, 11, and 11 patients receiving each therapy.
    • Receipt of advanced therapy was associated with increased RVOT VTI (4.6 cm; p = 0.009) and RV Ś (2.0 cm/s; p = 0.006).
    • Higher odds of TR grade improvement were observed (marginal OR: 3.0; p = 0.002).
    Interpretation:

    Limitations:
    • Retrospective, non-randomized design.
    • Modest sample size.
    • Use of surrogate endpoints.
    Conclusion:
