Objective:

To investigate whether relative CT attenuation value can predict hematoma expansion (HE) in patients with spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (sICH).

Approach:
  • Study Design: A retrospective analysis of patients with sICH treated between January 1, 2020, and December 31, 2023, who underwent baseline and follow-up CT scans.
  • Data Analysis: Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were plotted to determine the critical threshold for HE prediction based on relative CT attenuation values.

  • Sensitivity and specificity for predicting HE at ≤33.35 HU were 40.9% and 83.1%, respectively.

Relative CT attenuation value of hematoma can independently predict HE in patients with sICH.
