Objective:

To determine the prevalence of positive autism screening results and autism diagnosis among children with congenital heart disease (CHD) at 18-30 months of age.

Approach:

    • Prevalence of positive autism screens was 14.6%.
    • Prevalence of autism diagnosis was 11.7%.
    • Children with positive screens were younger than those with negative screens.
    • Higher rates of public insurance and Risk Stratification for Congenital Heart Surgery-2 scores were found in children with autism.
    • M-CHAT-R/F showed sensitivity of 66% and positive predictive value of 57%.
