To report a case of erythema gyratum repens (EGR) associated with severe adenomyosis and endometriosis in a non-paraneoplastic context and to review the spectrum of triggers for EGR.
Approach:
Case Presentation: A 37-year-old woman presented with pruritic, concentric erythematous plaques and a history of pelvic pain and menorrhagia. She had a 2-year history of these plaques, which were refractory to multiple topical and systemic therapies.
Key Findings:
The patient had a significant elevation in CA-125 levels.
Histopathological examination confirmed severe adenomyosis and endometriosis.
EGR resolved completely after surgical intervention without additional dermatologic treatment, highlighting the relationship between her gynecological conditions and the skin lesions.
Interpretation:
This case broadens the understanding of non-paraneoplastic conditions associated with EGR.
Limitations:
The patient was lost to follow-up, limiting long-term assessment of the condition and its potential recurrence.
Conclusion:
The findings indicate that EGR can be associated with severe gynecological conditions like adenomyosis and endometriosis.
A randomized clinical trial found that a team-based connected health model achieved equivalent improvements in atopic dermatitis severity and symptoms compared with conventional in-person care over 12 months.
