Objective: To explore whether subjects who receive polysomnography (PSG) during hospitalization represent a population with high rates of marginalization.
Key Findings: High rates of marginalization were observed in patients undergoing in-patient PSG. Socioeconomic disadvantages were prevalent among the study population. Lack of rigorous screening protocols for SDB in Canada was highlighted. Interpretation: The study underscores the need for improved access to in-patient evaluations for SDB, particularly for marginalized populations.
Limitations: Single-center study may limit generalizability. Retrospective design may introduce biases. Potential underreporting of comorbidities and socioeconomic factors. Conclusion: Enhancing in-patient evaluation and treatment for SDB could improve health outcomes for marginalized populations.
