CD40 Overexpression Emerges as a Potential Biomarker for Angioimmunoblastic T-Cell Lymphoma

Share

Researchers at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center have discovered that CD40 overexpression may serve as a prognostic biomarker for angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL). AITL, a rare subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, is challenging to diagnose and treat due to its heterogeneous microenvironment. Using single-cell RNA sequencing and immunofluorescence, the study revealed that neoplastic T follicular helper cells may adopt a T follicular–regulatory program, contributing to diagnostic ambiguity. These findings suggest that CD40 could help assess patient risk and inform treatment strategies.
