Case Report: Safety and efficacy of blinatumomab in combination with donor lymphocyte infusion for the prophylaxis of relapse following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in a pediatric patient with acute lymphoblastic leukemia
To report a case of a child with high-risk acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) who received blinatumomab combined with prophylactic donor lymphocyte infusion (DLI) to prevent relapse after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT).
Approach:
Key Findings:
The child developed grade 1 cytokine release syndrome (CRS) during treatment but did not experience severe adverse reactions.
Sequential blinatumomab plus prophylactic DLI was well-tolerated and maintained sustained remission after HSCT.
Interpretation:
Limitations:
The findings are based on a single case report.
Larger prospective trials are needed to verify safety, efficacy, and optimal dosing.
Conclusion:
Further investigation is warranted to assess the safety and efficacy of the combined regimen of blinatumomab and DLI for preventing relapse in high-risk pediatric ALL.
