Acupuncture for Nocturia in Survivors of Prostate Cancer

Share

Nocturia, the need to wake and urinate at night, is common among prostate cancer survivors, adversely affecting their quality of life and associated with increased mortality. A pilot clinical trial by Memorial Sloan Kettering evaluated acupuncture's effectiveness as a treatment option, revealing significant reductions in nocturia episodes compared to usual care. Despite existing weak evidence for standard medications, acupuncture suggests potential benefits with few side effects. Further studies are anticipated to solidify its role in managing nocturia for this population.
