A systematic review and meta-analysis conducted by Miszczyk et al. published in JAMA Oncology highlighted the efficacy of local therapies for patients with locally radiorecurrent prostate cancer. The review encompassed 31 studies involving 4,525 patients, evaluating treatment methods including HDR-BT, LDR-BT, SBRT, sRP, cryotherapy, and HIFU. The findings revealed that local therapies achieved ADT-free survival rates of 76.8% at 2 years and 55.2% at 5 years, with manageable adverse effects, particularly for HDR-BT and cryotherapy. This suggests a viable option for select patients after radiotherapy.
