A retrospective cohort study led by Dr. Koji Matsuo from the University of Southern California analyzed the rising trend in minimally invasive surgery (MIS) for early ovarian cancer, revealing a significant association between MIS and intraoperative capsule rupture. This rupture correlated with worse survival outcomes. From 2018 to 2023, the use of MIS increased notably, particularly robotic-assisted procedures. While MIS offered advantages, the study highlighted that intraoperative complications could adversely affect patient prognosis, necessitating further exploration of these procedural impacts.
