Objective:

To assess the clinical efficacy, safety, and tolerability of combined immunomodulatory therapy and surgical or interventional procedures in patients with hidradenitis suppurativa.

Approach:
    Key Findings:
    • Combination therapy was associated with improved clinical outcomes, including higher response rates as measured by the Hidradenitis Suppurativa Clinical Response (HiSCR) score and a 55% reduction in the International Hidradenitis Suppurativa 4 score (IHS4-55), along with greater reductions in pain and flares.
    • No consistent increase in adverse events was observed compared to biologic monotherapy.
    Interpretation:

Conclusions are limited by low-quality, heterogeneous evidence.

    Limitations:
    • Low-quality and heterogeneous evidence.
    • Lack of standardized definitions for combined medical and surgical treatment.
    • Absence of a meta-analysis due to clinical and methodological heterogeneity.
    Conclusion:

The study indicates that combined medical and surgical approaches may improve outcomes in hidradenitis suppurativa, but further research is necessary.
