To adapt the Utrecht Gender Dysphoria Scale - Gender Spectrum for Polish-speaking populations, including nonbinary, binary transgender, and cisgender individuals, to assess gender dysphoria inclusively.
Key Findings:
The original two-factor structure was not supported; a three-factor solution was identified: Gender dysphoria, Puberty-related distress, and Gender affirmation.
The scale demonstrated good internal consistency and measurement stability.
ROC analyses showed excellent screening accuracy for the Gender dysphoria subscale (AUC = .97) and good accuracy for Puberty-related distress (AUC = .81). The Gender affirmation subscale showed limited accuracy (AUC = .62).
Interpretation:
The UGDS-GS-PL provides a gender-neutral assessment tool that is psychometrically sound and applicable across the entire gender spectrum in Poland.
Limitations:
The study's sample was primarily recruited online, which may limit generalizability and introduce selection bias.
The Gender affirmation subscale showed limited accuracy in screening.
Conclusion:
The UGDS-GS-PL is a valuable alternative to existing binary-focused instruments, facilitating better assessment of gender dysphoria in Polish-speaking individuals.
