Objective:
To update the research priorities for pediatric emergency medicine (PEM) in the UK and Ireland, incorporating perspectives from key stakeholders.
Approach:
- Methodology: Utilized the James Lind Alliance (JLA) methodology to conduct a Priority Setting Partnership (PSP) involving diverse stakeholders.
- Steering Group: Formed a steering group of 20 individuals, including parents, healthcare professionals, and an academic researcher.
- Survey Process: Conducted an online survey co-designed with a young person's advisory group (YPAG) to gather research questions from participants.
Key Findings:
- The updated list of research priorities will guide the PEM research agenda for at least five years.
- The process included perspectives from parents, children, and healthcare professionals, addressing previous limitations.
Limitations:
- Challenges in including children and young people's perspectives due to scheduling conflicts.
