Objective:

To assess the effect of a lay coach–led, early palliative care telehealth intervention (ENABLE Cornerstone) on caregiver and patient outcomes at 24 weeks.

Approach:
    Key Findings:
    • Caregivers receiving the Cornerstone intervention were expected to show improved distress, quality of life (QOL), and burden at 24 weeks.
    • The intervention aimed to positively impact care recipients' distress and QOL at 24 weeks.
    Interpretation:

    Limitations:
    • Participants and interventionists were not blinded due to the nature of the intervention.
    • The target recruitment was reduced from 294 to 206 caregivers due to funding limitations.
    Conclusion:

The ENABLE Cornerstone intervention is designed to support caregivers of patients with advanced cancer, particularly those from underserved populations.
