A recent study involving 995 university students in Israel assessed the impact of a conversational AI platform on psychological distress. The 12-week randomized trial found that participants using the AI platform experienced significant reductions in anxiety and enhanced well-being compared to those in face-to-face group therapy and a control group. The AI intervention incorporated techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness. Despite improvements, the magnitude of change was modest, and concerns regarding generalizability and attrition were noted by researchers, led by Dr. Anat Shoshani.
