Objective:

To identify correlational patterns between aqueous humor microbiome and high myopia cataract progression in a preliminary investigation.

Approach:
    Key Findings:
    • High myopia cataract patients showed significant alterations in aqueous humor microbial diversity.
    • Decreased abundance of Escherichia and increased abundance of Neisseria, Capnocytophaga, Veillonella, Rhodococcus, Jensenia, and Corynebacterium were observed.
    • Transcriptomic analysis revealed reprogramming of metabolism-related genes and activation of ErbB and HIF-1 signaling pathways.
    Interpretation:

    Limitations:
    • Small sample size limits generalizability.
    • Study design does not establish causation.
    Conclusion:

This study integrates microbiome and transcriptomic data related to high myopia-associated cataract.
