Objective:

To compare the clinical efficacy of Jianqiao ancient moxibustion with that of moxa box moxibustion in patients with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) exhibiting a spleen–kidney yang deficiency pattern.

Approach:
  • Study Design: A single-center, single-blind randomized controlled superiority trial enrolling 90 eligible patients diagnosed with CFS.
  • Intervention: Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either Jianqiao ancient moxibustion or moxa box moxibustion, with treatments administered three times per week for 4 weeks.
  • Outcome Measures: Primary outcome: Fatigue Scale-14. Secondary outcomes: Spleen–Kidney Yang Deficiency Symptom Scale, Self-Rating Anxiety Scale, Self-Rating Depression Scale, and infrared thermal imaging.
  • Assessment Schedule: Evaluations will occur at baseline, post-intervention at week 4, and during follow-up at week 16.
Key Findings:
  • The study will utilize infrared thermal imaging to assess changes in thermal characteristics related to moxibustion.
Interpretation:

Limitations:
  • Single-center study may limit generalizability.
  • Single-blind design may introduce bias.
Conclusion:
