To assess patient satisfaction, tumescent local anaesthesia volume, and complication rates after breast surgery using tumescent local anaesthesia.
Approach:
Study Design: A retrospective, monocentric, nonrandomized, open-label study involving 153 patients screened, with 104 included in the analysis.
Tumescent Local Anaesthesia (TLA): Patients received TLA with varying concentrations based on surgical extent, administered via infusion pump until effective anaesthesia was achieved.
Questionnaire: Patients completed an eight-item questionnaire regarding their satisfaction, pain levels, and complications.
Key Findings:
Mean age of patients was 60.0 years, with significant age differences between outpatient (48.4 years) and inpatient groups (74.1 years; p < 0.001).
Mean BMI was 24.6 kg/m2, with lower BMI in the outpatient group (23.5 kg/m2) compared to the inpatient group (26.0 kg/m2; p = 0.023).
Higher preoperative ASA and ECOG scores were more common in the inpatient group.
