A recent study utilizing RNA sequencing to investigate Hodgkin and Reed-Sternberg (HRS) cells in classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) has unveiled crucial molecular characteristics that could enhance diagnosis and comprehension of the disease. The researchers isolated HRS cells from 18 patient samples through flow cytometry, which revealed significant differences in gene expression compared to normal B cells. Key findings included the activation of the unfolded protein response (UPR) and reduced expression of immune recognition molecules, suggesting immune evasion strategies by HRS cells.
