To evaluate how permanent pacemaker (PM) implantation affects growth in children diagnosed with complete heart block (CHB).
Approach:
Study Design: Examined 25 pediatric patients with CHB who underwent PM implantation, recording anthropometric measurements pre-implantation and during follow-up until age 18.
Data Analysis: Z scores for height, weight, and BMI were adjusted for age and gender and compared from baseline to final follow-up.
Key Findings:
Average follow-up duration was 7.65 ± 2.79 years.
Statistically significant increases in weight and BMI Z scores post-implantation (p < 0.05).
Height Z scores showed an upward trend but did not achieve statistical significance.
Limitations:
Small sample size of 25 patients.
Exclusion of patients with certain conditions may limit generalizability.
