AOPT Plus Collagen May Ease Rosacea
Randomized trial suggests better short-term outcomes and lower recurrence at 24 weeks.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of combining recombinant human type III collagen dressings with advanced optimal pulse technology (AOPT) in treating rosacea.
Key Findings: Overall response rate at 12 weeks was 89.3% in the combination group vs 77.3% in the AOPT-alone group (p = 0.049). Combination therapy showed greater reductions in erythema, lesion severity, and pain scores. Quality of life improved more significantly in the combination group across various domains. Skin barrier measures favored the combination group, with decreased transepidermal water loss and increased hydration. Lower recurrence rates at 24 weeks: 14.7% in AOPT alone vs 2.7% in the combination group. Interpretation: Collagen dressings may enhance the short-term effectiveness of AOPT in treating rosacea, suggesting a multimodal approach could be beneficial.
Limitations: Modest sample size and single-center design. Relatively short follow-up period. Lack of histopathologic or molecular validation. Potential bias due to non-blinding of patients and operators. Conclusion: The combination of AOPT with collagen dressing offers superior benefits over AOPT alone, warranting further research in larger, multicenter trials.
