To explore the impact of dietary and lifestyle modifications on outcomes for men with nonmetastatic prostate cancer.
Approach:
Study Analysis: Zhang et al. analyzed data from 4884 men with nonmetastatic prostate cancer, focusing on postdiagnostic dietary fat intake over a median follow-up of approximately 13 years.
Key Findings:
Greater saturated fat consumption after diagnosis was associated with increased all-cause mortality (HR, 1.24 [95% CI, 1.05-1.47]).
Increased saturated fat intake was linked to higher cardiovascular disease deaths (HR, 1.42 [95% CI, 1.02-1.98]) and deaths from other cancers (HR, 1.42 [95% CI, 0.93-2.17]).
