Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) shows promise in identifying gestational diabetes by capturing clinically relevant glucose patterns. However, a review finds insufficient evidence to replace the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) as the gold standard for diagnosis. The study, including diverse populations, evaluated CGM's efficacy based on measurements like mean glucose and glycemic variability, highlighting associations between CGM metrics and adverse maternal-neonatal outcomes. Though some metrics demonstrated moderate predictive performance, CGM requires further validation before being deemed a standalone diagnostic tool.
