Objective:

To evaluate the outcomes of newly diagnosed multiple myeloma patients aged ≥70 years treated with D-VRD induction followed by autologous hematopoietic cell transplantation (autoHCT).

Key Findings:
  • 125 patients were included: 27 (22%) older and 98 (78%) younger.
  • No non-relapse mortality events occurred in either group.
  • Pre-transplant response rates were similar: ≥ very good partial response (VGPR) in 81% older vs 78% younger patients.
  • Median follow-up was 19.1 months; median PFS was 36.5 months in older patients.
  • One- and two-year OS rates were 100% and 92% in older patients vs 98% and 93% in younger patients.
Interpretation:

Limitations:
  • The study is retrospective and may have selection bias.
  • Limited generalizability due to the specific patient population and treatment protocols.
Conclusion:
