Objective:

To report the management of a chronic locked anterior shoulder dislocation secondary to epilepsy, complicated by structural injuries.

Approach:
  • Case Presentation: A 28-year-old female with a history of epilepsy presented with a locked anterior shoulder dislocation and associated injuries.
  • Intervention: The patient underwent arthroscopic posterior capsular release and glenoid osteoplasty, followed by an open Latarjet procedure with coracoid transfer.
Key Findings:
  • At 1-year follow-up, shoulder mobility significantly improved and functional scores markedly increased with no recurrence of dislocation.
  • The patient reported high satisfaction.
Interpretation:

The combination of the Latarjet procedure and arthroscopic release effectively restored shoulder stability and function.

Limitations:
  • Single case study limits generalizability of findings.
  • Lack of a control group for comparative analysis.
Conclusion:

The combined surgical approach was effective in managing chronic locked anterior shoulder dislocation due to epilepsy.
