H2GO! was designed to reduce sugar-sweetened beverage intake and obesity risk among school-aged children through a community-based behavioral program.

  • 2

The program included 12 in-person, 1-hour group sessions over approximately 6 weeks, delivered by trained Boys & Girls Clubs of America staff.

  • 3

H2GO! combined interactive beverage activities, youth-generated narratives, and parent–child take-home activities, culminating in a youth-led community event.

  • 4

The cluster-randomized trial assigned matched Boys & Girls Club sites to H2GO! or usual programming and assessed participants at baseline and 2, 6, and 12 months.

Change in child BMI z score from baseline to 12 months was the primary outcome; changes in sugar-sweetened beverage and water intake were secondary outcomes.
