A 23-year-old woman developed headache, fever, altered behavior, and new-onset seizures 11 days after cesarean delivery.

  • 2

She had taken ibuprofen, 600 mg 3 times daily, for 10 days before presentation.

  • 3

CSF showed lymphocytic pleocytosis, markedly elevated protein, normal glucose, and sterile cultures; extensive infectious testing was negative.

  • 4

Normal neuroimaging and electroencephalography, negative autoimmune testing, and the clinical course supported a noninfectious cause.

  • 5

After ibuprofen was discontinued and antibiotics were stopped, she had no further seizures, returned to baseline, and had no recorded readmissions over 1 year.
