Juvenile idiopathic arthritis-associated uveitis (JIAU) is the most common systemic disease-associated uveitis in childhood.

Many patients with JIAU experience persistent ocular inflammation or complications into adulthood despite treatment.

A substantial proportion of adults with JIAU continue to experience active disease and ocular complications, including cataracts and glaucoma.

Topical corticosteroids are the initial treatment for anterior uveitis, but prolonged use increases risks of cataract and glaucoma.

Discontinuation of biologic therapy in JIAU patients should be approached cautiously due to the risk of treatment failure.
