Pulsed field ablation (PFA) is a novel, non-thermal method for treating atrial fibrillation (AF) that shows promise compared to medical therapy.

  • 2

In a study of 62 patients, PFA demonstrated significantly lower readmission rates for AF recurrence or heart failure than matched medical therapy patients.

  • 3

The 1-month and 6-month readmission rates for the PFA cohort were 3.2% and 4.8%, compared to 12.9% and 17.7% for the medical therapy cohort.

  • 4

Kaplan-Meier analysis indicated a higher freedom from readmission in the PFA group, with rates of 92% versus 69% in the medical therapy group.

  • 5

This study supports the efficacy of PFA for AF treatment and sets the stage for larger future studies in the MENA region.
