HHS Welcomes 10 New States into CCBHC Medicaid Demonstration Program

Ten new states have joined the CCBHC Medicaid Demonstration Program, expanding access to mental health and substance use disorder services.

The CCBHC model has grown from 66 clinics in 2017 to over 500 clinics operating in 46 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

31 of the 46 states with CCBHCs will support the model through Medicaid programs, providing sustainable funding for comprehensive services.

CCBHCs are required to provide 24/7 crisis care and a comprehensive range of services, ensuring timely access for all individuals.

The program aims to strengthen behavioral health systems and support the Great American Recovery Initiative to address addiction.
