Phoenix Children’s Appoints Four New Division Chiefs to Lead Key Specialties

Sandra Buttram, a Phoenix Children’s attending physician for 15 years, will lead pediatric intensive care and critical care and conducts research on acute brain injury and other critical conditions.

Kevin Hummel will lead the cardiovascular intensive care unit, overseeing care for children recovering from heart surgery and those with complex congenital or acquired heart conditions.

Karen Papez will oversee nephrology, including Arizona’s only dedicated pediatric dialysis center and pediatric kidney transplant program.

Ray Stanford will lead physical medicine and rehabilitation, supporting programs that provide outpatient care and the state’s only acute inpatient rehabilitation facility dedicated to children.
