Effect of preoperative tranexamic acid on hidden blood loss and C-reactive protein in patients undergoing Delta-channel endoscopic lumbar discectomy: a retrospective case-control study

The study analyzed 69 patients with lumbar disc herniation undergoing Delta-channel endoscopic discectomy from January 2023 to December 2024.

Patients were divided into two groups: 25 received intravenous tranexamic acid (TXA) and 44 did not, prior to surgery.

The hidden blood loss (HBL) was significantly lower in the TXA group compared to the control group (p < 0.05).

No significant differences were found between the two groups regarding operation time, intraoperative blood loss, or C-reactive protein levels (p > 0.05).

TXA, thrombin time, and hematocrit were identified as independent predictors of hidden blood loss in the multivariate analysis.
