Virtual reality-based vision therapy improved distance exotropia control in pediatric patients compared to observation in a clinical trial.

The study involved 177 patients aged 6 to 18 with untreated intermittent exotropia, conducted at three hospitals in China.

Patients in the therapy group showed a median change of -0.33 in distance exotropia control scores after 12 weeks.

Thirty percent of treated patients achieved at least a 1-point improvement in distance exotropia control scores.

No adverse events were reported, and therapy also showed modest improvements in near exotropia control and exodeviation.
