Intelligent Decision Support System for Radiation Therapy Planning in Head and Neck Cancer Using Multi-Organ Constellation Matching

1

Radiotherapy aims to destroy tumors while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues, presenting a significant treatment planning challenge.
2

Modern treatment planning support tools enhance radiotherapy by utilizing data-rich environments and advanced imaging technologies for improved plan creation.
3

Knowledge-based treatment planning (KBP) leverages retrospective case data to optimize treatment plans by predicting dose gradients and improving dose-volume histograms.
4

The proposed KBP infrastructure matches current planning cases to historical best practices based on the geometric relationship of target volumes to surrounding organs.
5

This system enables the calculation of quantitative features between target volumes and organs at risk, facilitating holistic comparisons across varying anatomical cases.
